Sam Burchfield Live!

Raised in the foothills of the Blue Ridge mountains of South Carolina, Sam Burchfield was brought up on Appalachian music: folk, gospel, country and southern soul. Jumping over the state line to settle in Jasper, GA, (gateway to the Appalachian Trail) Burchfield's music reflects the landscape that raised him. He carries the tradition of storytelling forward with a deep lyrical honesty.



Burchfield's upcoming release 'Scoundrel' begins a new saga. Written by an alter-ego, the record dives into 11 tales of greed, betrayal, desire, heartache, despair- and redemption. "We recorded these songs on my friend's farm in South Georgia, tracking live in the same room. It felt right," Sam recalls of the pre-pandemic recording sessions. "It's nice to finally have this new record finished. It's sort of a marker of a new chapter for me. A new sound, new direction, closing the door on a couple of crazy years trying to finish the damn thing. It feels good."



No release date has been set for 'Scoundrel', but the first single 'Sugar Cane' is out now on all platforms. The second single 'Bonnie' is set to drop in late February. Sam Burchfield & The Scoundrels (aptly named) hit the road this Spring to bring the new music to life. "The record really explores the line between good and evil," Burchfield comments, "Often the people we set up as heroes, are actually destroying us all… and the ones we want to throw in jail are trying to save us all. Something to consider."
